Organic Lawn Care
Programs
There are lots of people today making
the change from your regular type of lawn care programs to
organic lawn care programs because of the simple fact that the
chemicals used in traditional fertilizing and pest management
are so harmful. Tips on organic lawn care will give you how to
tips on implementing organic lawn care programs on your own, or
by subbing out the duties to an organic lawn care company which
will take care of the dirty work for you. Whichever way you
choose, organic lawn care programs don't require a huge change
from your traditional methods of lawn care, and they are a lot
healthier for environment, the overall long-term health of your
soil and grass, and they produce truly wonderful results.
Blades and Soil
Organic lawn care programs focus largely on two important
times of the year which are vital for providing you with a lawn
that is healthy and lush. The first cut of the spring and the
last cut of the fall, your lawn must be cut shorter than
through the summer months. The first cut of the spring and the
last cut of the fall must be mowed to 2 inches while the rest
of the summer it is to be kept at between three and three at
half inches long to help keep the weeds down and produce a
stronger root system for the grass. The reason the first cut of
spring needs to be 2 inches is to cut off any fungus that
might have grown on the top of the blades during the winter
months. The reason for the short cut in the fall makes it less
likely that any fungus will grow on the blades over the long
winter months.
It is also necessary that you check the health of your soil
by using a soil testing kit once in the spring and once in the
fall. You can get the soil testing kits from garden supply
stores or online. The purpose of these kits is to show you what
nutrients your soil is missing so you can buy the right organic
slow releasing fertilizer mix for your lawn. Doing
this will provide your lawn with the
nutrients it needs to grow all through the summer months. By
doing this in the early fall I will allow your grass roots to
get the nourishment they need to be strong through the winter
months so that when they start growing again in the early
spring the growth will be much thicker and lush.
If you're going to use organic lawn care programs it is also
recommended that you will need to use a mulching lawn mower.
These mowers chop up your lawn clippings very fine before they
release them out on the lawn. This will allow your grass
clippings to be used much more effectively by your lawn for
mulch. This mulching process will provide a constant supply of
nutrients to your grass and the results of which will be a lush
lawn. You will also need to make sure that your lawnmower
blades are kept sharp so that they cut your grass cleanly. You
don't want your lawn to be cut ragged because this will make
your it more susceptible to diseases and fungus which can
seriously damage your lawn.
